The treatment

What is
Fascial Counterstrain?

Fascial Counterstrain is a precise, gentle, hands-on method that uses tender points to identify protective tension in connective tissues. Comfortable positioning shortens or unloads the involved structure, helping the tissue relax.

Fascia supports muscles, joints, nerves, blood vessels, and organs. Counterstrain assesses these connected tissue systems and uses gentle positioning and tissue glides to ease reflexive guarding. Treatment is followed by reassessment of tenderness and movement.

Healthy motion

Moving comfortably.
Working together.

Healthy motion involves coordination across the body. The spine, rib cage, pelvis, and limbs work together as you reach, turn, walk, and breathe.

Breathing is movement, too. The diaphragm and muscles between the ribs help change the space inside the chest as you inhale and exhale.

In a Counterstrain session, we assess tenderness and movement, use gentle positioning to address protective tension, then reassess your response. The goal is more comfortable movement in everyday life.
